    wow best theme on the net by a long shot!!! I recently upgraded to latest version (Brunelleschi 1.5.5 ) but now the footer boxes look weird in IE. They show up on the right and are really thin so that the page is long. I checked IE at my work computer and its the same. Looks good on firefox. sorry if you have already answered this but don’t see it posted. any suggestion would be appreciated – RCW

    Hi Kit,

    Do you know how to get rid of the horizontal ruler at the bottom of the pages, but NOT between the blog posts? I’d like to keep the ruler between the blog posts, but it seems that it is the same HR for both the pages and the blog posts. I haven’t figured a way around it. Can you help?

    Kind regards,
    Annika

  3. Hi – love the theme but having lots of problems with the Featured Content Slider. My photos are coming out way too stretched out. How does one set up the slider itself, and the photos to go in there. I’m getting lost between all the measurement options.
    Thanks!

    • Hi Anne,
      The issues with the featured content slider are probably Bugs and aren’t your fault. In future versions I’m going to remove the Featured Content slider from the theme and add it as a plugin so that they can be developed individually. Sorry about the issues with this, it’s a work in progress.

    Beautiful, clean theme, and fantastic on mobile! Thanks, you will go far!

  5. Hi,

    I love your theme! I wanted to know if there was a way to expand the side widget bar. Also am I missing the field for widgets at the header?
    Please let me know!

    Thanks,
    Caitlin

  6. Hi Kit,

    I just found your Brunelleschi theme and I love it. I have the latest version, 1.5.5, but there’s just one problem I’m having. When my blog is viewed on my iPad, it looks great in the horizontal orientation, but in the vertical, the right sidebar is chopped off a bit (text and graphics run right to the edge). On my iPhone, the layout doesn’t show the right sidebar at all, either horizontal or vertical. I’m just using the single sidebar option, 3 columns, with overall theme width at 960.

    I had left the mobile theme css in the default configuration; I’m not quite sure how to adjust it to fix this. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!

    Paul

    • Hi Paul,
      Brunelleschi drops the sidebar down to below the content on mobile devices, but you can change that if you want to. I’m not sure about the iPad issue. Can you see the sidebar if you scroll or is it totally cropped?

      • Thanks, Kit.

        Ok, I installed the child theme, and it is showing like that on my iPhone now, except that it is only showing the left side of the blog, the right side is totally cut off. Can I just adjust the minimum width now?

        On the iPad, I can see most of the sidebar ok, except that the right margin and a small portion of the sidebar, header image, etc. are cropped off. This is just in the vertical orientation still, in the horizontal it looks perfect, just like on my desktop Mac.

  8. Doh! I had looked on the themes page first of course, but didn’t see it listed anymore, forgetting it was named “no collapse” instead of just Brunellischi. ;-)

    I uploaded the new modified version of the theme you just gave me but the layout still looks the same, sorry. It *seems* to be just a width problem, but not sure? Everything looks good except for the right half of the blog being cut off (on iPhone).

    • Unfortunately this isn’t a width problem but a zoom problem. When iOS devices rotate the site they attempt to maintain the same zoom-level, but the screen is larger so half of the screen gets cut off. If you pinch the screen you can see that the scale is correct again.

      One option that might work is to disable zooming, which makes the website behave more like a web app. The result is you should get the correct size in the mobile version, however it disables pinch to zoom. If you want to try this, replace your current child theme with this one. (You’ll have to delete and reinstall again).

      This is still an issue I’m trying to figure out, but hopefully I’ll have a better solution in the future.

    Is there anyway to adjust the width to 768px so it renders correctly on an ipad?

    • You could try adding this to the Custom CSS box under Appearance > Brunelleschi Options:

      @media only screen and (min-device-width: 768px) and (max-device-width: 1024px) {
      	body { max-width: 768px !important; margin: 0 auto;}
              #main { max-width: 550px !important;}
      }

    Is there a way to increase the number of sidebar columns? If not could you increase the number of columns to five in the next release? Thanks

  11. Great theme Kit! Exactly what I was looking for. I am moving my site off Typepad over to WordPress so the site I have listed on this comment still pulls up the Typepad one.

    On Brunelleschi is there a way to make the landing page significantly different from the other pages? Specifically, the two changes I want to make are that on the landing page I do not want comments enabled; I don’t even want them there. And actually I would like to turn off comments on the other pages too (about & demo), leaving comments on only on the actual blog portion of the site. Secondly on the landing (home) page I do not want to have the “groovy box shadow” turned on but I would love to have it on for the rest of the pages.

    I am comfortable with basic – medium coding in both HTML and CSS but am self taught. I am very new to WordPress and am still learning my way around.

    Thank you again for such a beautiful, well thought out, and elegantly simple/clean theme!!

      Hey Viv
      Comments can be switched off on any site you want. Go to
      –> pages
      –> click any page; for example — samle page
      –> on the top right you see: “screen options”
      –> click on “screen options” and you will see the customazition – at least: discussion
      –> activate discussion and then you can turn on/off “discussion” on every page you wish

      have fun with wordpress :-)

    Hi Kit,
    I would like to have my page showing the left and right sidebar with a width of two columns each. And so I adjust the listboxes in the options to “both” and “two”. What happens is, that you can see the content in the correct place but the right sidebar is empty. All widget areas are shown in the right side in the order from top to down: Ternary WA, Quarternary WA, Primary WA, Secondary WA. What seems to me amazing is that the Primary WA is shown at the level or nivel of the end of the main content. So if the main content is long you can´t see the Primary WA without scrolling. Do you have any idea to solf this problem? Would be great…

    Thanks
    Hanns (sorry for the poor language but I´m german and my english is not this perfect)

  13. Hi Kit!

    Is there a way to customize the title (without the header)?

    Thanks,

    Hi Kit,

    Beautiful theme! I really love it. My site needed a change after 6 years using Tarski, and Brunelleschi was just what I was looking for.

    I’ve been making little CSS tweaks here and there, with pretty much no problems. I’ve only run into one snag: one single-entry pages, the following is appearing at the very top of the page, above the header:
    Continue reading→"/>

    You can see the problem for yourself here.

    I tried switching back to Tarski, and also to the default Kubrick theme; in both cases, the text snippet was gone. Just to be sure, I tried removing my additional CSS from the box at the end of the Brunelleschi Options page; sure enough, the text snippet was still there. I also ran the single-entry page through Adobe Browserlab, and the text snippet appeared in the renderings from Firefox, IE, and Safari, as well as Chrome (which is what I’ve been using).

    Any help you can give will be hugely appreciated!

    • That bug looks like it’s being caused by this chunk of code in the header:

      <!-- Open Graph tags provided by Social Sharing Toolkit v2.0.6 -->
      		<meta property="og:locale" content="en_US"/>
      		<meta property="og:title" content="Top 10 Videos of 2011: 1. “Missing Teen’s Friends Plead for Her Release, Gossip About Ugly Classmates”"/>
      		<meta property="og:description" content="At long last, my #1 video of 2011. If you've been patiently waiting, I think you'll feel justly rewarded. If you haven't, whatever -- you'll laugh too. <a href="http://cheekandbluster.com/2012/01/31/top-10-videos-of-2011-1-missing-teens-friends-plead-for-her-release-gossip-about-ugly-classmates/">Continue reading <span class="meta-nav">→</span></a>"/>
      		<meta property="og:url" content="http://cheekandbluster.com/2012/01/31/top-10-videos-of-2011-1-missing-teens-friends-plead-for-her-release-gossip-about-ugly-classmates/"/>
      		<meta property="og:type" content="article"/>
      		<meta property="og:site_name" content="Cheek and Bluster"/>

      This makes me think that this is probably being caused by a plugin, probably this one: Open Graph tags provided by Social Sharing Toolkit v2.0.6

  21. Vicente says:

    Hi Kit,
    Thank you for, both, the most attractive theme in WordPress and your dedicated support. I, and I’m sure many others, have tried to do you and your theme justice by investing time and effort developing Brunelleschi’s many user capabilities. As committed as I feel to this theme, I can’t help wondering what the real prospects of it becoming browser and mobile friendly are. The Modernizer pug-in, btw, only helps a little and IE, for example, is just to mainstream to ignore forever. Is it realistic to expect relief soon?

    Great Theme well done!!

    I have a question; how can I make the Featured Slider/Header image appear only on the home page?

    Thank you

  24. Hi Kit, thanks for a brilliant theme.

    I’m using v1.5.5. I’ve just noticed something that I hadn’t noticed before – my quotation is appearing in a block one character wide on my little phone! I fixed it by making a child theme with the following in style.css:

    /* Mobile */

    @media handheld, only screen and (max-width: 767px) {
    blockquote {
    margin-left: 0px;
    margin-right: 0px;
    }
    }

    @media handheld, only screen and (max-width: 400px) {
    blockquote {
    margin-left: 0px;
    margin-right: 0px;
    }
    }

    It’s still indented by the 3em padding in line 696 of your style.css, which it fine.

    Hello Kit from Los Angeles!

    I just installed your theme and I love it!

    I was wondering if you could help me out. I’m trying to make indents/tabs to organize some writing on my resume page to make it more clean looking. I was wondering if you knew of a plug in or code that could help me. I’ve been unsuccessful so far.
